Dott.Prof. Massimo Fioranelli Prof. Massimo Fioranelli was born in Rome in July 1958. He graduated cum laude in medicine and surgery at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", April 1984. July 1989 Fellowship in Internal Medicine at the II University of Rome, Tor Vergata. July 1993 Fellowship in Cardiology at Chatolic University of Rome.
In 1989 Cardiologist at S.Giovanni Calibita, Fatebenefratelli Hopital, Tiberina Island, Rome. In January 2002 Director of Cardiology and cath lab department in Villa Flaminia Clinic in Rome. In 2007 Director of Cardiology and cath lab department in mater Dei Clinic in Rome.
From 1995 to 1998 Teaching Professor at II University of Rome, Tor Vergata. In 2004 Teaching Professor in Cardiology at II University of Rome, Tor Vergata. In 1998 he attended the Department of cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology, Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York, directed by Prof. Jacob Shani.

In 2000 he attended the Department Northwestern University Medical Shool, Division of Cardiology, Chicago, Illinois, USA, directed by Prof. Robert O. Bonow. From July 2003, is visiting professor in the division of Cardiology, Maimonides Medical Center/Mount Sinai Medical School in New York (USA).
     He published many papers on cardiovascular diseases. He performer until now many invasive cardiovascular procedures

Additional Information: Dr. Shani has achieved an international reputation for his innovative abilities in cardiac catheterization. He performed the first atherectomy in New York State in 1991; invented an angled catheter in 1992; achieved the first filmless cath lab in the country in 1996; invented a wrist clamp to aid in radial artery catheterization; and performed the first percutaneous transmyocardial revascularization in New York State in 1997. Under his leadership, Maimonides Medical Center has achieved the best patient outcomes for angioplasty according to the most recently published data from the New York State Department of Health among all New York City hospitals.
